PDR of Yemen: FDJ friendship brigades in al-Kod
While school buildings of the vocational training centre of al-Kod in the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen are still under construction, the first 40 boys took up their apprenticeship as fitters for agricultural machinery, tractors and motor cars here. The members of the "Wilhelm Pieck" friendship brigade of the GDR's Free German Youth (FDJ) helped build up the training centre and handed over solidarity presents such as benches, machines and building materials, as well as the metal light construction hall (background). The FDJ brigades work also instructors and engineers. - 15 FDJ friendship brigades work at present in nine countries of other continents to help build up their national economy.
