Double sea tragedy off West Coast.
The lives of 50 men are believed to have been lost in the worst sea disaster for many years. The crew of the oil tanker SAMPAMPA, believed to number 42, are missing after the ship had been driven ashore last night, on Sker Rock, near Portheawl. During the evening the Mumbles lifeboat was launched to go to the aid of the vessel, after an S O S. had ben received stating that the Samtampa was drifting in the Bristol Shatinel amidst pounding seas, caused by the prevailing storm. Frantic efforts on the part of rescuers were unsuccessful and when dawn broke this morning the second part of this tragedy was revealed when the lifeboat was found battered and upturned, only 200 yards from the stricken tanker, with her crew of 8 missing.
