Scope and content

Members of the prime crew for the first manned Apollo flight practice water egress in the Gulf of Mexico off the Florida coast.
The training is vital to the survival of astronauts returning from space flights. Sliding down the boiler-plate capsule is Walter Schirra, the command pilot. Seated in the life raft are astronauts Donn Eisele and Walter Cunningham.
Two National Aeronautics and Space Administration swimmers assist the astronauts. The first earth orbital flight in the Apollo programme is scheduled for early 1968.
