"Medal For 2nd U.S. Spaceman" -- Astronaut Virgil I. Grissom receives the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Distinguished Service Medal from Director James Webb during a press conference at Cape Canaveral, Florida July 22. At left are Mrs. Betty Grissom and sons Scott, 11 and Mark, 7. Grissom returned to the Cape from Grand Bahama Island, where he had undergone post-flight examinations and questioning by Project Mercury officials following his successful suborbital flight the day before in the space capsule Liberty Bell 7.
