Scope and content

In 1912 the contributor of the photographs, reproduced on this and the three following pages, trekked by camel caravan from the border of British Somaliland to the Arussi mountains of Abyssinia, passing, on his way, through Jigjiga, Harrar and the Danakil country. The object of his journey was to collect specimens of Tragelaphus Buxtoni (the finest of the Nyala tribe) and Tragelaphus Meneliki (a black buck). Two specimens of each were obtained.
