A miracle Atlantic rescue went last week with a ship-to-shore airlift for injured survivors. They were snatched from a sea-hell when their super constellation airliner ditched in mid-Atlantic.
Seventeen of the 44 survivors aboard the Swiss rescue ship "Celerina" were winched aboard RAF helicopters from the freighter's deck. Then they were flown 30 miles to Cork before being taken to hospitals for treatment.
Most of the seventeen were badly burnt by the ditched aircraft's high-octane fuel which floated round them when they were in the water.
