Tanker breaks in two in heavy gale.
This is what happened when the "World Concord", a big tanker of over 20,000 tons, broke in two during a strong gale in the Irish sea, off the west coast of England. On the left, the bows and fore-part of the vessel drifts helplessly ion the heavy seas. On the right, the stern half maintains a precarious existence of its own, while a rescue ship stands by in the background. All members of the crew were rescued, but until then, 35 stayed on the stern, and seven, including the captain, on the fore-part.
