London: The first State visit to Britain for forty-six years of a reigning King of Sweden, plus the ancient links of blood and history that bind Britain to Scandinavia, have ensured a warm welcome for Gustaf VI Adolf King of Sweden of the Goths and the Wends, and Queen Louise, who arrived at Greenwich Tier to-day in the Swedish cruiser Tre Kronor (Three Crowns). They were met by the Duke of Edinburgh (nephew of Queen Louise) and the Swedish Ambassador in London, who had journeyed down London's famous River Thames in the royal barge, King Gustaf and Queen Louise will be met on arrival by Queen Elizabeth II; Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and other members of the British royal family. At the head of British Government and civic heads waiting at Westminster Pier will be the Right Honourable J. Selwyn Lloyd, Q.C., C.B.E., Mr. P., Minister of State at the Foreign Office, deputising for Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill and Foreign Secretary Mr. Anthony Eden.
