C. Ananda Grero whose father, C.M. Grero, was a police inspector at the Chief Magistrate Court in Colombo, sworn in as an attorney at law at the Supreme Court.
During his time at the Law College as a student, he was a pioneer in the Sinhalese Battle, the leader of the Sinhala Debating Club (1959-1960) and was the president of the Sinhalese Students' Association through which the magazine called, "නීතිය" ("Law") was published.
