Cornwall: The Liberian-registered, tanker "Stony Point" which with the Greek freighter "Ioannis", burst into flames when the two ships collided off Ushant, Brittany, seen some 12 miles off Falmouth. The vessel is remaining off the pont until an oil leak has been sealed. The Greek ship made the French coast under her own steam. Fourteen men died in the disaster, one is missing and 18 were injured.
