Scope and content
Soviet Cosmonauts from left to right V. Shatalov, A. Elyseev, E. Khrunov, and B. Volynov, driving through streets in the flower-bedecked car recently on their way to a Kremlin Awards ceremony, were shot at by a young man, who fired two pistols at them, as they neared the Great Borovitsky Gate of the Kremlin.
According to reports, the bullets from his guns struck the open limousine, hitting their driver in the head, with three bullets, wounding him critically, and injuring a security guard seated next to the driver in the front seat.
Major General Georgy Beregovoi, pilot of Soyuz Spacecraft that made a four day flight in October was struck by glass which shattered as the bullets struck it.
The four Cosmonauts miraculously escaped unharmed. – (UPI)
