Scope and content
"100,000 Sing in the Rain"
This was the fantastic scene, in Tottenham yesterday (6-5-62) as the super Spurs came home.... with the F. A. Cup. More than 100,000 people lined a three-mile route for the team's victory drive.
The Spurs, who on Saturday (5-5-62) beat Burnley 3-1 at Wembley to win the Cup for the second year running, made their drive in an open-top double-decker bus. And skipper Danny Blanchflower held up the Cup for everyone in the cheering crowds to see. Traffic stopped as fans surged around the bus singing the team's theme song, "Glory, Glory Hallelujah." At Tottenham Town Hall the team were met by the Major, Alderman William Herbert.
PS: Here it is..... the F. A. Cup, one of Soccer's most prized trophies, with Danny Blanchflower and Spurs manager Bill Nicholas on command.
