The three American spacemen, Roger Chaffee, Edward White and Virgil Grissom (left to right), in the Apollo spacecraft in which they died in a flash fire which engulfed the craft during a launch pad test at Cape Kennedy, Florida, on January 28th. They were to be the crewmen for the first manned Apollo flight, planned to start on February 21st and to last 14 days.—(United Press International).
