A serious railway accident was averted yesterday morning when a train pulled to a halt a few yards of another train that had jumped the rails between the Fort and Maradana stations. The derailed train was put on the rails again. Following the derailment, railway traffic was disorganized and office workers and students had to trudge miles or travel by bus and taxi to their destinations. Railway officials were conducting investigations yesterday as to the cause of the derailment. An official told the "Daily Mirror" yesterday evening that inquiries were still on. Defective operations of the newly installed colour light signals was ruled out. Picture shows a derailed carriage.
