A riot occurred at Race Course Colombo yesterday due to a crowd being unhappy about starting a race. The tables and chairs were destroyed because of this riot. They requested the authorities to restart the horse race. However, this request was not heard and they mentioned the amount of money offered for the race. The crowd got angry, broke into the office and destroyed everything in sight, refusing to leave the race grounds. Since there were no other action the authorities could take, the races were cancelled. The sweepstake was not held.
