"Sweden: International Disarmament Conference for Joint Actions"
The gathering of all forces against the new nuclear weapons and the danger of war which is increasing through these weapons in the most urgent task in Europe. This unanimous opinion was expressed by 160 personalities from 30 European states, the USA and Canada who met in Stockholm from June 6th to 8th, 1981, to participate in Europe which was convoked by the Swedish Peace Committee and the World Peace Council. For the first time, representatives of 85 national campaigns for disarmament, organisations and parties as well as of 13 international organisations jointly discussed this theme. Delivered to the closing plenum, the reports of three special commissions emphasised the usefulness of this fruitful and unbiased dialogue for joint or parallel actions of the peace forces against the dangers caused by the intensified armament and new nuclear and missile weapons.
Professor Günther Drefahl, president of the GDR's Peace Council, joined the discussion. Right is Romesh Chandra, president of the World Peace Council.
