Scope and content

Stockholm. Monday.
Princess Margaretha of Sweden and Robin Douglas-Home, will not become engaged during his present stay in Stockholm, it was learned here.
A communique issued by the Swedish Court said Mr. Douglas-Home, who has been here since Tuesday, would fly home tomorrow. It added that he "intends to return to Stockholm during the spring".
Princess Margaretha and Mr. Douglas-Home had not seen each other for over a year when the 25-year-old businessman arrived here last week.
The separation had been urged on them by King Gustav Adolf, the Princess's grandfather. From the beginning of Mr. Douglas-Home's present visit, Court circles here stressed that the two young people must have time and opportunity to make up their minds about marriage, without outside pressure.
A Court spokesman said there was no question of Mr. Douglas-Home having been "turned down" at the Swedish Court.
The King had regarded the matter purely from the point of view of a grandfather, considering his grand-daughter's happiness, the spokesman added. In the event of both the young people being absolutely certain of their feelings, the King would put no obstacle in their path, he said.
The father of Mr. Robin Douglas-Home, has urged the Swedish Court not to issue communiques on the reported romance until the couple had made up their minds.
"It is my wish that no further communique, however trivial, will be issued by the Royal Palace of Stockholm or its spokesman until these two children have made up their minds undisturbed by anyone", he told the Press Association in London. — (PTC-Reuter)
