"President of the Cuban Revolutionary Council - Makes Statement of Cuba"
Pres. Cardona - President of the Cuban Revolutionary Council - seen when he made a statement in New York - in which he gave details of the events to date - saying that a landing of several hundred compatriots took place in the South of the Matanzas Province on April 17th but did not achieve all of its proposed objectives - but nevertheless the majority of the combatants succeeded in moving inland - fighting bravely, to various places where they continued to fight oppressive communism.. He said that he was unable to give details of the casualties or how many had been taken prisoner - owing to the sinking of the ship which carried transmission equipment.
