Scope and content
Frogmen (right) from Thorney Island coming ashore and helping others still in the water after rescue operations on the Royal Air Force Flying Boat of the Sunderland Class, which crashed into the sea here recently in the sight of hundreds of holiday-makers. The Sunderland was flying from Calshot, Hampshire, in connexion with the RAF Association jubilee celebrations. The Duke of Edinburgh landed in a helicopter shortly afterwards. Nine men were taken to hospital with injuries. Three men were still missing when this picture was taken. Frogmen continue to search the aircraft and the sea-bed for them.
