Seventy-six holiday makers had an amazing escape recently, when theis Hermes airliner crashed as it was landing in heavy rain at Southend. The aircraft's brake failed. As the pilot fought for control, it slewed off the runway, ploughed across a field, plunged through a fence, climbed an earth embankment, and buried its nose in the ballast on a railway line.
