PS: The Girl: Olivia Brayden, pictured last night (12-7-61) after she stole a kiss from Spaceman Yuri on the steps of the Russian Embassy in London Yesterday.
(on right) just laughed for joy. Olivia was waiting with a group of friends at the Soviet Embassy to see Yuri set off for a reception at Earls' Court where the Soviet exhibition is being held.
For two hours Olivia stood on the embassy steps - hoping, at the most, for Yuri's autograph. But when Yuri came out she decided to steal The Kiss...Embarrassed Yuri once safe inside his car began scrubbing shocking-pink lipstick smears from his face.
Reuter reported last night that Major Gagarin, returning to Moscow from his triumphal tour of Britain, said that what he liked most about Britain was "the people". He drove away in a car piled high with bouquets from Britain.
