Mr. Petur Thoreteinsson, (left) roving Ambassador of Iceland conveyed to the President Mr. J. R. Jayewardene (centre) the Iceland Government's thanks and appreciation of the manner in which Sri Lanka helped all those involved in the tragic Icelandic Airway DC—8 air crash.
Mr. Thoreteinsson said this was the first tragedy in the history of the airline which started during the last war.
One of the air hostesses who survived, but is still in hospital, is the niece of the Ambassador. The people of Iceland were also thankful to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. A. C. S. Hameed (right) for his assistance, the Ambassador said.
