Self-styled "World Citizen," 36-year-old Garry Davis, was interviewed by the manager of the Savoy Hotel when he wanted to pay his £15 bill with "world currency" which he claimed was worth 8s. each.
He said he registered at the hotel as a "World Citizen" and would pay with "world currency."
Mr. Davis was deported from England in 1953 for being a menace to the public good. He tore up his American passport in 1957 claiming that the national passport system is a complete farce. Mr. Davis spent the day in London recently with his friend Mrs. Esther Peter (28) whom he met in Paris and who says that "Garry is a martyr to his cause."
