Miss A. Padman, who retire as principal of Vincent Girls' High School, Batticaloa, leaves Ceylon shortly after 33 years' service as a teacher in the island.
Miss Padman spent the first five years in Trincomalee and the rest of her career at Vincent Girls' School, Batticaloa. She was the first woman president of the Batticaloa Teacher's Association.
While at Vincent Girls' School, Miss Padman was awarded a scholarship to the UK where she completed the diploma course in education.
She was vice-president of the Methodist Women's Fellowship.
