Scope and content

On June 10, 1964 pilot Marina Popovich, the wife of Pavel Popovich, Cosmonaut 4, reached the speed of nearly 600 km/h on a training jet plane during the closed circuit flight. Nobody in the world has attained such a speed on such plans (with a flying weight of about 3 tons). The flight proceeded at an altitude of 5,000 metres strictly along a closed route.
Since 1948 Marina Popovich flies on planes of different designs. At present she is mastering helicopter aerobatics. Marina Popovich spent in the air a total of about 1,000 hours. Thus M. Popovich established a record on a training L-29 jet plane designed in Czechoslovakia.
