26 people were injured and the driver and one passenger killed when a Penzance to London G.W.W. express crashed into some trucks which had become detached from a coal train at Shrivenham, near Swindon, Wilts, on Jan. 15th.
Most of the injured were in the first three coaches of the express, all of which were derailed. The dead driver was trapped beneath coal when the engine left the rails and fell on its side, and it was more than an hour before he could be dug out.
