King Gustav and Queen Louise of Sweden arrived in London today for their state visit. They sailed up the Thames to Greenwich in the Swedish cruiser Tre Kronor where they were met by the Duke of Edinburgh accompanied by the Swedish Ambassador. The royal party then embarked in the royal barge for the journey up the river to Westminster Pier. There, they were welcomed by the Queen, the Queen Mother, Princess Margaret and other members of the Royal Family.
After inspecting a guard of honour of the Coldstream Guards, the Swedish King and Queen drove to Buckingham Palace.
