Karunananda has passed into legend for whenever the 18th Olympiad is spoke, so will the man who though last completed the course.
Unabashed by the fact that he had three more laps to go, he ran up his 25th round of the 10 metres, not as a mere loser. but like the winner doing his lap of honour.
Even if he had won Gold he could never brought to Ceylon the same kind of glory. He lives to the hilt Baron de Coubertin fumed dictum .... the important thing in the games is not have won but to take part, the important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle.
