Jockey Johnny Longden, riding "Bente," finishes a head in front of "Flying Finish" to establish the 5000th win of his 30-year career of riding at the Santa Anita race track in California. Longden, 47, and a grandfather, said after this victory on February 28, 1957, that he would continue to ride as long as he feels he can do justice to the job. (57-6559)
