Scope and content
The 10-year-old Francis was the sole survivor among his family members who were victims of the train crash. Francis' mother, 6-month-old and 7-year-old little sisters had died on the spot. The family had been returning from the Pesali village in the Northern province after visiting their older sister. Little Francis was rescued from under a carriage by an employee of the Postal Department, Mr. O.L.S. Hameed, and is receiving treatment from the Mirigama hospital.
