I. S. Johar plays the role of Gupta the Indian engine driver who nurses the temperamental old locomotive "The Empress of India" across three hundred miles of the North West Frontier.
"North West Frontier" tells the story of rebellion in India at the turn of the century and of a handful of men and women who fight their way through hostile territory in an antiquated train. The film, produced by Marcel Hellman and directed by J. Lee Thompson at Pinewood Studios, England, and on location in India, is in Cinema Scope and Eastman Colour. Heading the large cast are; Kenneth More, Lauren Bagall and Herbert Lom.
