An Equestrian Event by the German Champion
Horst Karsten, the 25-year old farmer from Delmenhorst (Federal Republic of Germany), won the German Military Championship of 1963 in excellent form on his horse "Condora" (photo). Horst Karsten was the only writer without a fault with his two horses "Condora" and "Hanko" during the final jumping on the track with 13 obstacles (18 jumps). The good places obtained in manoeuvring and on open ground then brought about victory. Fritz Ligges from the little riding town of Warendorf and twice German champion had bad luck in this championship. His horse "AEC-Schütze" fell when he was riding on open ground, broke its neck and died on the spot. The rider was only slightly injured.
