The Gemini-12 spacecraft, with United States astronauts James Lovell and Edwin Aldrin aboard seconds before splashdown at the conclusion of the 4-day space mission, in the Atlantic Ocean recently (left photo).
At right: The spacecraft safely down, braked by a slant parachute. The re-entry and splashdown were perfect. Gemini-12 landed only three miles from the US Aircraft Carrier Wasp, and 14 minutes later the astronauts were on their way to the carrier by helicopter. Gemini-12 is the last of the two-man Gemini series.
