For the first time in the history of horse racing in Ceylon pre-race dope tests were carried out at the Galle Gymkhana Club's race meeting which began on Saturday.
Dr. W. Rintoul, chief analyst of the Singapore Race Club, was in charge of the proceedings, helped by the club 'vets'.
Our cameraman, who was on the spot, was permitted to take these pictures. In the picture above Dr. Rintoul (right) looks on while Mr. E. F. Edirisinghe, 'vet' of the Club, swabs one of the runners in the third race.
