Mr. John A. Dewar's TUDOR MINSTREL, ridden by Gordon Richards, scored a stylish and popular victory in the 2,000 Guineas, first of the season's classics, at Newmarket to-day (Wednesday). The MINSTREL was eight lengths in front of Princess Aly Khan's SARAVAN (E. C. Elliott) and the Maharaja' of Baroda's SAYAJIRAO (E. Britt), fighting for second place. After a photo-finish picture had been submitted to the judge second place by a short head awarded to SARAVAN. The winner, favourite of the race and for the Derby, started at 11 to 8.
