Scope and content

These children from the Kebele 23/10, one of the almost 300 residential districts in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, wait for the beginning of the lesson. About 1,500 girls and boys attend this school which is a tin hut for the time being. Lessons are held in two shifts because of the lack of school rooms. Alphabetization courses for about 600 adults take place here in the evenings. Education depends not longer on the purse under the revolutionary government in Ethiopia. The people's power provides step by step the pre-conditions for all children to attend a school.
