These farmers of an Ethiopian cooperative have not yet modern agricultural technology available. They bring the corn by hand. Nevertheless they strive for better grain harvests which is a major task in the current first year of the national revolutionary development campaign. In the state sector of agriculture alone, 1.64 million decitons of grain shall be produced over last year's figures. Harvests shall be increased, too, in the sector of peasants' associations - which include also the cooperatives - and on private farms by 3.8 million decitons of grain. Extension of farm land, chemical fertilizers, better seeds and modern technology will help fulfill the plans.
