Donating 20,000 kilos of tea worth of Rs. 1,000,000 for Ethiopians suffering from a famine, took place at Janatha Estates Development Head Office, Vauxhall Street, Colombo. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, A. C. S. Hameed is handing over the boxes of tea to Mr. Jaan Kamp, the resident representative of UN development programme, who accepted the donation for the Ethiopian government. The Minister of Coconut Industry and the Vice Minister of Janatha Estates Development, Mr. Harold Herath are looking on.
