Scope and content
A continual coming and going can be watched at the official border check point at Khaiber Pass in the daytime. This is mainly due to the fact that Pashtuns live on both sides of the border line. The Pashtuns are a 6-million people with an own language and culture. Colonial border regulations led to a separation of East Pashtunistan from the Kingdom of Afghanistan in 1893. The Pashtuns can cross the border without any problems, only sometimes they are checked for weapons. As is known, gangs who have their hinterland in Pakistan ever again launch attacks on schools and other public facilities. A principal control of passports or identity cards is understandably made when foreigners and drivers cross the border.
