Twenty-eight-year-old South African artist, Cyril Fradan, who has depicted in his paintings the suffering of Africans under apartheid, said recently: "He found a letter waiting for him at the Woodstock Galleries in the West End, London where 20 of his canvases were on show.
The letter was addressed to "Communist Fradan", and warned him to stop helping coloured people or face "what the niggers got at Sharpeville." The focal point of Fradan's exhibition was a large abstract representing the agony of the 69 Africans killed in the Sharpeville shootings last year. Picture shows Fradan with his painting "Sharpeville", at the Woodstock Galleries.
