Team 6 (centre) with Olaf Ludwig (l) and Gerald Mortag from the Wismut Gera Sports Community became superior total winner of the "Six Days Race" for the prize of the GDR's youth daily "Jungle Welt" (Young World) held on the indoor track in Berlin's Werner Seelenbinder Hall. The two Thuringians - a road cyclist (Ludwig/ winner of the 1982 International Peace Cycle Race) and a track specialist - won on three of altogether six race evenings and could not be out-ranked by their renowned rivals. Team 13 with Gerald Buder/Hans Matern (left) from the Sports Club Dynamo Berlin was placed second and team 7 with world ex-champions Volker Winkler (right)/Michael Minnich from the Sports Club Cottbus third.
