The cyclists field passing Zielona Gora (Poland) shortly before the third award at kilometer 85 of the 4th stage (from Poznan-Poland-to Forst-GDR-over 175 km) during the 36th international Peace Cycle Race. Luis Texera (Portugal) placed ahead of Zedendamyn Ganbold (PR of Mongolia) and Mircea Romanesca (Romania) who had left the main field got the award points. Romanian cyclist, however, succeeded to reach the stage finish prior to Teixeira and Ganbold, then. As here in Zielona Gora, the cyclists from 16 countries were enthusiastically welcomed by thousands of people forming a dense line down the circuit. According to organizers' estimates the number of onlookers amounted to more than two millions till the second rest day in Karl-Marx-Stadt (on May 18th 1983) - after eight stages of the race.
