For the first time the Amateur track cyclists of Federal Germany has won a contest against the Soviet Union. on the Bocholt cement track the German Riders were successful in all four disciplines with a total 8:4 victory.
The German team in the 4,000 meters team race (from left to right Henrichs, Spigelberg, Streug and Grossmillinghaus) was with 4:41.8 minutes more than two seconds faster than the Soviet team.
Lathav Claesges put up an outstanding performance in the 1,000 meters time race. A week earlier he had won two titles in the Federal German Championships, and making a great effort, surprisingly beat also Kolambet of Russia. |In the decisive race of the racing the Germans won with 45:33 points.
