With Budget Day drawing nearer the bookies are getting bolder. Race sheets are back in circulation, though not as extensively as before the raids in the first week of June.
One race sheet in circulation within the past few days carried the entries in six English races.
There is a general expectation that a betting tax would be announced in the Budget and that this will enable the legalising of the bookie business.
