Scope and content

Norwegian ship wrecked off Irish coast while on maiden voyage: 45 rescued by lifeboat.
Twelve passengers and a crew of 33 were rescued by Dun Laoghaire lifeboat when the 5,000 ton Norwegian motor-ship "Bolivar" broke her back on a sandbank six miles from Dun Laoghaire, Eire, on her maiden voyage from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Dublin, Eire. Among the passengers taken off were Admiral Lord Mountevans — better known as "Evans of the Broke" through his exploits in H.M.S. "Broke" during World War I — and his wife, who were on their way from Buenos Aires to Norway for a ski-ing holiday.
Photo shows: Broken in two, the Norwegian motor-ship "Bolivar" lies on a sandbank, grounded in one of the worst storms for years off Irish coast.
