Cologne (DaD) - Baron Drais Von Sauerborn with his "walking machine" made in 1817 - or rather a young man who was made up to be the perfect image of his historical model - personally attended the International Bicycle and Motorcycle Exhibit in Cologne (Federal Republic of Germany). He allowed photographers to take his picture as he walked around the fair grounds on the Rhine (the Cologne Cathedral can be seen in the background). The year's exhibit showed along with the most modern and latest objects offered by this industry, a historical show of the 150-year old history of the two-wheeler. In addition to Drais 'Curious Invention', the first "pedal crank bicycle" (1853) as well as a number of high, armchair and reclining bikes were shown.
