She is bottom weight in the Grand National and the bookmakers don't even bother to quote her price. But down on Burcott Farm, Wells, Somerset, ten-year-old April Queen is the apple of trainer Herbert Payne's eye. Aintree fences hold no fears for "April" - she won the Foxhunters' Chase over the course last March. Her local supporters reckon she will show those Russian horses a thing or two when they come to try their luck at Aintree next month.
PS: Grand National outsider April Queen takes a nip over a hurdle, ridden by Anthony Payne, her trainer's son.
