These women from Kabul's borough Kerte Memurin attend one of the capital's six schools for women in order to catch up on what had been refused them before the April Revolution in 1978. During an average four-year training, the women receive elementary education in mathematics, reading and writing as well as natural science. In addition, they may attend courses in type-writing, cookery, sewing, embroidery and tailoring.
