The Sri Lanka State Trading (Textiles) Corporation "Salu Sala" was established on 8.4.1971, under the Sri Lanka State Corporation Act No. 33 of 1970. Although the Corporation was created in 1971 it commenced trading activities only from 1.1.1973, after completing the necessary formalities.
The main function of the Corporation was to Import the shortfall of Utility Textiles between consumer demand and local production. It also trades in locally produced Textiles.
