Administrative history
Tile Rubber Research Institute was estahlished under the Rubber and Coconut Research (Amendment) Act No.8 of 1957, Rubber Research (Amendment) Act No. 52 of 1957 and Chapter 439 of the Tea, Rubber and Coconut Research (Amendment) Act No, 2 of 1961.
The Rubber Research Institute was situated at Dartonfield, Agalawatte. It has nine Divisions, they are: -
Plant Science Department, Inter Cropping Department, Plant Pathology Department, Soils and Plant Nutrition Department, Rubber Chemistry Department, Bio Chemistry Section, Estate Department, Library and Publications section.
An important event in the history of the Rubber Research Institute was the International Rubber Conference, which was held in September 1984, to celebrate 75 years of Rubber Research in Sri Lanka.
